ABCD
Welcome!
I missed this weeks class so I feel a little out of the loop! The ABCD model seems to be simple enough. I like how it breaks down the objective into different parts. This makes it easier to write, understand, and explain to others. The A stands for Audience, the ones the objective is for. B stands for Behavior, the observable and measurable behaviors. C stands for Condition, the environment or situation the learning will take place in. D stands for Degree, the level of expected performance. I think that these kind of explain themselves, so when writing objectives, following this technique should be doable.
Example: The students will demonstrate an understanding of the differences between Athens and Sparta.
I would love to hear your feedback on my example. How and what do I need to change? Does it fit the guidelines of the ABCD model?
As always, best wishes!

Hi Kenya!
ReplyDeleteI like your example, but the only thing I'm not seeing is the degree. I know you weren't in class, but we learned that degree is a percentage or you can use a word like successfully. Otherwise I think it's great.
Also, I think we are supposed to post our actual objective for our unit.
I agree with Kristen I also do not see the degree in there and I thought we were suppose to do our objective also for our unit plan. The rest of the example looks great though!
ReplyDeleteKenya,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you understand all the components of the ABCD model, that only thing I would suggest is to add your degree to your objective. Other than that it sounds great! Also, you might have already done this, but if not you could go back and review the ABCD portion of the class recording, we went over some really great examples that helped me understand a lot! I find it really helpful that we are able to go back and reference classes. Great job!
Also, how will the students "demonstrate understanding?" That is not a concrete enough measurement for you to be able to know for sure that they got it.
